Hostas come in a wide range of sizes and as you go through our listing you will see a letter in parenthesis after the name which denotes the height of the plant…the ledger below will help to convert this to inches.
T Rex (also registered as Tom Rex)
[VL] (D&J Ward) A HUGE hosta so give this one lots of room!
Gigantic green leaves are 18” long and 14” wide and tend to be rather floppy because they are so big. Obviously,
H. ‘T. Rex’ has super substance and grows very well. Topped with near-white flowers
Tattoo
PP#11603 [mini] (Avent) Very unique...this sport of H. 'Little Aurora' has bright gold leaves that have the appearance of having a maple leaf "tattooed" on each of them. Good substance and some cupping on rounded leaves topped with lavender flowers in early summer. Grows slowly and you may have to work at finding the right location but the results are well worth the effort if successful
Teeny-weeny Bikini
[mini] (Elslager) This one only gets 3-4” tall…a charming new mini from Ed Elslager with pale yellow leaves framed by a medium green margin that streaks to the center. The pointed leaves have a nice sheen and will be topped with deep purple flowers in August. New mini from Ed Elslager
Temptation
[L] (Cornitensis) This is a beautiful new sport of H. sieboldiana ‘Elegans found in Belgium…large rounded and puckered blue-green leaves have a creamy-white center. Topped with white flowers in midsummer. Very new and plants being offered are 2nd yr tissue culture. New sport from H. sieboldiana ‘Elegans’
Tequila Sunrise
[M] (G. Johnson) Very bright yellow-gold leaves early in the season are held on reddish petioles…the leaves do mellow in color as the season progresses but have a nice wavy edge. Topped with lavender flowers
from Alttara Scheer
Terpsichore
[M] (Scheer) Named for the Greek Muse of dance, this deep green, lustrous leaved beauty with red petioles extending up the leaf backs will attain a medium stature, and will surely make a spot in your garden your own, private Xanadu. Medium purple flowers make an appearance in midsummer
this new one from Kent is really “sharp”…
**The Razor’s Edge
[S] (Terpening) Kent graces the hosta world
with another really elegant plant...long green leaves are quite ruffled and
have white backs. The upright clump shows off the intensely red petioles
in a stunning manner. This H. ‘Hacksaw’ and H. ‘Atom Smasher’ cross
is a vigorous grower and will be topped with lavender flowers
**The Shining
[M/L] (Hansen) A vibrant yellow sport from H. ‘Cathedral Windows’...resembles H.
‘Tortilla Chip’. This one will take some shade to maintain its glowing color and will be topped with the
typical fragrant flowers of its parentage
Theo’s Blue
[M] (Lehdens/Zonneveld) A H. pycnophylla hybrid from Theo Leydens of Holland…first time offered in the US. Beautiful powdery blue leaves are held on purple-red petioles. The back of the leaf is white. Lavender flowers. Again, very new plant and we are offering 2nd yr tissue culture
Thunderbolt PPAF
[M] (Hawksridge Farms) Sport of H. sieboldiana ‘Elegans’…heavily corrugated leaves have a wide bluegreen
border with a narrow creamy-yellow center in spring that turns white. Vigorous grower with white flowers
Tick Tock
[S] (Kipplen) Brand new introduction for 2004 from Ed Kipplen of Toledo, Ohio and one we are very pleased to bring you! This sport of H. 'Gold Drop' is proving to be an outstanding performer...thick leaves have a chartreuse-green center framed with a nice blue-green border. Shows good vigor and holds well into the fall. Topped with lavender flowers midsummer and tends to rebloom late. Would be great in a trough, rock garden or the front of the border where it can be shown to its best effect as H. 'Tick Tock' is worth showing off
Time Tunnel
[M] (Malloy) This is a smaller sport of H. ‘Frances Williams’…medium green, rounded leaves are cupped and have a very wide yellow border. Near-white flowers in early summer
Tokudama Flavocircinalis
[M] (Maekawa/AHS) Blue-gray leaves with a yellow margin have heavy substance and lavender flowers. Plant grows well in NW and we find to be a good replacement for 'Frances Williams'
Tom Schmid
[L] (Schmid) Great sport from H. ‘Krossa Regal’…long leaves have a blue center surrounded by a wide white
border. Substance is very good and the margin is slightly rippled. Clump is topped with lavender flowers
Tortifrons
[S] (Maekawa/Schmid/Japan/AHS) This very interesting little jewel comes from Japan and has dark green leaves that have a corkscrew effect…twisting as the thin blades reach upward. Must be grown in a sufficient amount of sun to accomplish this effect. Blooms well into fall with pale lavender flowers
wonder who Alttara named this one after...hmmm?
**Totally Twisted
[M] (Scheer) A fast growing riot of long, light, soft
green leaves, white backed, red petioles, un-tamed and twisted. Many
leaves turn a complete twist on the edges, nicely showing off the white
undersides, and turn up from the midpoint to show off the red legs. As the
season grows on, the first flush of leaves can (with the right exposure)
develop yellow flecks and speckles. This trait can be passed on to
offspring. Tolerates sun well. Fertile and has reliably sent up a second set
of scapes in the originator’s garden
Touch of Class
PPAF [M] (Hans Hansen/Shady Oaks Nursery) Another tetraploid from Hans...from H. 'June' comes a super new plant with intense blue leaves set off by a striking yellow-gold center. A green color is created where the gold and blue overlap on these upright thick leaves and the clump is topped with lavender flowers midsummer
Tremors
[M] (Terpening) This unique hosta comes from Kent Terpening of New York and has not been offered before…medium green leaves poke out of a dense clump in all directions but yet, maintain an orderly appearance. The elongated leaves fold and twist and are quite pointed. H. ‘Tremors’ gives the appearance of movement even when there isn’t any. Topped with lavender flowers
